Hey there Trail Enthusiasts,
Next Trail Run--> Saturday, August 4th at 8am @ Green Lakes State Park.
Once again, I will supply some Gatorade and cups as well as some instructions before we head out on the the many different trails.  It will be your responsibility to supply yourself with Gels, water, etc while out there...   We will be running 3-8 miles, as usual.  Your preference.
Also, soon I will have T-shirts available for our first 10 members.  So far we only have 6.  We really would like to see more people join us, for we are not an intimidating group at all.  We are runners of all levels who would just prefer do something more interesting than hit the pavement day after day, so please come out and join us.  If not you, then spread the word to friends and family who are interested in running a more diverse landscape.    Hope to see more of you this week.
Get Your Dirt On!
Ryan

p.s.  We will be meeting near the bathrooms as you enter from  The rte. 290 entrance (near the Boathouse, 2nd Parking Lot)  Look for a Gray Subaru with a bike rack on the trunk.

Next Trail Run-->  Beaver Lake Nature Center, Saturday July, 28th @ 8am.

We will be doing roughly 3-8 miles.  Your preference!  All trails are marked.
Hope to see more of you Trail running crazies out there!  I know it may be early for some of you, but getting a nice, cool run in before the hot summer heat is always the safest.  Plus it's a much more tranquil, relaxing, quieter experience, and you may meet your future spouse too.
I will have a jug of Gatorade and some cups, but please bring whatever else you may want while out on the trail. (water, cliff bars, gels etc)   I don't tolerate litter bugs, so clean up your garbage!  See ya Saturday morn!

The Trail end of it...

Hey There Trail Blazers,
This mornings run from Elmwood Park up the hill to Santaro Park was a success.  Besides a few tree branches we needed to duck under due to a small storm last night,  there were very little technical parts along our stroll.   The high temperature this morning didn't hold back 4 solid mountain climbers (Jim, Sam, Neil and myself) from ascending uphill from the lower park trails to Santaro.  Midway through our run came an uphill challenge.  This "mini mountain" ascended roughly about 500 feet over a 1/4 mile climb.  The trails were shaded, cool and clear.   The footing was perfect and the run seemed almost effortless.   The best part, the descent back down the trail was quite therapeutic. The tremendous views of the city of Syracuse atop the Corcoran athletic fields, finished with a nice soft, surface trail  along the small gorges/ravines in Elmwood made this particular trail run a keeper.
I and some of the other CNY Trail Runners hope to see more of you come out and join us soon.

Hey there Trail Blazers,  My name is Ryan and I have created this blog in order to write about my running adventures in hopes that you'll join me whether its reading about it here or even getting out into the outdoors and exploring with me on a nice nature run.

I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and I spent most of my childhood playing in the street.  Yeah yeah, you laugh but it's true.  I was known in the neighborhood by many of the parents as "the street urchin."  I never came home to dinner unless (according to my mother) I had at least a good 1/2 inch of dirt on me.  I guess I was sort of a "dirt ball" but the way I see it, it was nothing but adventurous fun.  I would wake up every morning during the summer and throw on some shabby short shorts, along with some sort of tank top, mismatched tube socks, and my ultimate favorite sneakers,  The Walter Payton-esque Roos and head out the door.  I spent most of those days in Onondaga Park playing football (on the gravel)  basketball (on the cement) and baseball (in the tennis courts...seriously).

Hmm, so you might be wondering why it is I have started this CNY Trail Running Blog, if all I am talking about is my childhood, and getting dirty and playing in the street?  Well it goes like this.  As far back as I can remember, I have always been passionate about running and seeing as I spent most of my youth running the streets of Syracuse, I felt as if I needed to seek out as many new adventures as possible and share these experiences with fellow trail running enthusiasts.

Please check back with me on a weekly basis for I'll be writing, critiquing, and posting pictures of my trail running adventures in and around CNY.  Let me know if you have any favorites as well, I'd love to check them out.

So long for now trail blazers... Get your dirt on!
